Once again, the beaches of the municipality of Lagoa, in the Algarve, have been distinguished among the best in the world. Praia da Marinha has secured a place in Europe’s Top 10 for 2024, while Praia do Carvalho is ranked eighth in the world for its stunning blue waters.
The coastal stretch of the municipality of Lagoa has once again garnered attention for its outstanding beaches on both European and global scales. Praia da Marinha maintains its prestigious position in Europe’s Top 10 as part of the Best Beaches ranking for the Summer of 2024, curated by travel platform BookRetreats. Simultaneously, Praia do Carvalho secures the eighth spot in the global list for its remarkably azure waters, as assessed by accommodation site CV Villas through an analysis of Google Maps images from 200 beaches across continents.
BookRetreats meticulously evaluated beaches across 16 European destinations, considering factors such as popularity, safety, accessibility, weather conditions, and water quality. On March 31, they unveiled the meticulously crafted list of the 25 best beaches in Europe for the upcoming summer, where Spanish shores, notably La Concha Beach, claimed the top position.
Six spots on the list were secured by Portugal, with four located in the Algarve region: Praia da Falésia in second place, situated in the municipality of Albufeira; Praia da Marinha in tenth place, located in the municipality of Lagoa; Praia da Armona in seventeenth place, found in the municipality of Olhão; and Praia da Terra Estreita in twenty-third place, situated in the municipality of Tavira. Additionally, two spots were claimed on Madeira Island: Praia da Ponta da Calheta in fifteenth place and Praia do Garajau in twentieth place.
